James A. Beverley is Research Professor at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto and is Associate Director of the Institute for the Study of American Religion in Texas. Professor Beverley is the author and editor of eighteen books, including God’s Man in the White House, Nelson’s Illustrated Guide to Religions, Getting Jesus Right, Religions: A to Z, Counterfeit Code,(a reply to Dan Brown’s famous novel), Holy Laughter & The Toronto Blessing, Mormon Crisis, and Understanding Jordan Peterson.
Professor Beverley has earned a B.A. Honors in Philosophy, M.Div. Honors, M.Th. and Ph.D. He has written frequently for Christianity Today magazine and is the Religion Watch columnist for Faith Today magazine. Professor Beverley has also served as an expert witness in both civil and criminal trials and is an advisor to the Ontario government on religious groups. He has been interviewed frequently by major media and has taught and lectured in North America, Central America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
For over four decades Professor Beverley has specialized in the study of new and world religions.
His expertise has led to a private interview with the Dalai Lama, major meetings with Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist leaders, as well as interaction with top figures in new religions like Scientology, the Unification Church, and the Church of Satan.
His wife Gloria is a retired kindergarten teacher. Jim and Gloria live in Moncton, New Brunswick and have two adult children, two grandchildren, and one grand-dog. For hobbies, Jim loves reading thriller novels, figuring out great travel deals, talking politics about Donald Trump, and watching TV dramas with Gloria. Jim and Gloria’s son Derek is an artist and their daughter Andrea is a professor at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick.
